The
Verkerk name has been synonymous with fine, traditional European
smallgoods and speciality meats since 1956. This was the date that
Aalt Verkerk, a Dutch immigrant butcher and smallgoods manufacturer,
purchased a property on the corner of Armagh and Manchester Streets
in Christchurch, New Zealand, and established his renowned butchery
and deli.
Aalt saw a huge void in the New Zealand marketplace
for quality European-style salamis, smallgoods and speciality meats
such as Dutch style Roast and Hot Beef, Prosciutto, Pastrami and
bacon products. He immediately set about the task of recreating
the very best that Europe’s butcheries and delicatessens had
to offer, using traditional family recipes and quality local ingredients.

business, creating a wide variety of products that range from spicy

info
The company operates its own farm to supply beef, pork and sheep
meats for their state-of-the-art processing factory, cool store
